On #1 - Sure. You are basically saying Anahiem was a good team, very true. I can't think of the last team that won a Stanley cup that wasn't.........I guess Carolina? Fair enough, but I think that footnote you want to put next to his cup goes against 90% of all other winning cup coaches too. And there are far many more examples of coaches who failed to take stacked teams to the promise land, than there are ones who actually succeed like Carlyle did. Not really sure you can use his success as a negative.

I generally agree with your point - a coach who wins the cup can't be horrible. But then again, who was a better coach, Bob Johnston or Terry Crisp?
I would like a Quenneville or Sutter or Babcock who've won. I'd be very happy with a Trotz who hasn't. And, I don't want a Carlyle or Torts who have won.
