And I'd love to take those praising German-style autobahns and driving culture and plop them into German driving culture. See how they react to mandatory new driver training of 14 theory classes and at least 12 driving lessons, costing upwards of $2,000. Not to mention the mandatory eyesight certificate and first aid course. Then there's the fact that both the written exam and driving test are far more difficult than in Canada, and there's a high likelihood they'll fail and have to take exams again. Then there's the higher cost of registration and insurance. And let's not forget the much higher taxes that help pay for the extensive public transit required in a country where strugglers are kept off the road.
