As for Jankowski not being 'even close' to being ready for the AHL last year, I would say he was more ready than Kylington was (and I was FOR Kylington going) and more ready than Klimchuk.

Jankowski would have struggled significantly in the AHL this season. He was not ready. Apparently the Flames agreed.
The only way Jankowski becomes an NHLer is if he goes back to college. Playing 40 games for the Heat and putting up 5 points doesn't help him at all.
If another team benefits from that, fine. At least we get a 2nd rounder in compensation. That's better than what I believe would have happened had he signed last year.
