Short of ending soccer as a game you aren't going to stop that.

As you say old soccer players generally are at risk of becoming bad TV commentators, ultimately life has risk and we should stop trying to wrap everyone in bubble wrap.
This isn't akin to "wrapping everyone in bubble wrap." This is about ensuring quality of life for professional athletes after their retirement from sport. It is about protecting our kids from avoidable potentially mortal danger, and from permanent disability.

This is a really serious issue. My son plays high school rugby and one of his teammates will likely never play sports again, will now not be able to pursue a career in the military like he had hoped, and very realistically will not manage to gain entry into university. All of this because of a serious concussion he suffered on the field in a game last year. This is SO much different than protecting kids from broken bones, hurt feelings, or moral purity.
