I see at least two, maybe three Flames in bad position on that freeze frame, but Ortio is not one of them. And I would say Gio isn't either. And I'm sure guys are close to where they're supposed to be technically. But that's just because the system sucks.
Him hitting Ryan was an accident, but doesn't stop him from making a save on the initial point shot, which is what he was trying to do, which is what I'd want every goalie in the universe to do. If the defense doesn't break down there's still enough time for Ortio to get into position even after hitting Ryan.

If you watch the replay from the overhead angle, you'll see that as the shot comes in, the only part of Ortio's body that is in his paint is the the bottom part of his legs. The majority of his body is way outside his paint. You can't tell me that's where a goalie is told to position himself for point shots. It was his bad positioning that led to the contact and I think it contributed on that goal.
I'm not absolving our skaters by any stretch. They have to be in the right positions to bail out the goalie every now and again, but it doesn't change the fact that for me, he was too far out of his net(which must be the case if only his skates and ankles are in the paint) and that was part of the reason why we conceded that goal.
