I'll give you the younger argument, but disagree with the rest. If Eriksson was such a consistent goal scorer shouldn't he be outscoring Hudler, especially playing on a much better team, like Boston? I also don' think the difference in age is going to be a detractor between either. I can't see 18 months impacting much, especially for two guys that are going to be rentals. Add in Hudler's Stanley Cup experience I think that easily gives him the edge over Eriksson as a rental.

Eriksson is much more valuable IMO. Your cherry picking of their stats ignores several years where Eriksson scored 26-36 goals, totals Hudler has NEVER achieved in his entire career. Eriksson is clearly the more consistent goal scorer if you look at their full careers. And as the younger player shouldn't be declining as soon as Hudler will.

Except when establishing their fair market value they should only be judged on their performances over a reasonable period of time, which should probably be the last three years and for their current teams, which ironically just happens to be in the same time period.
Hey, here's some more "cherry picked" stats for you. What each player has done in the post season.
Hudler - 77 GP, 16G, 25A, 41P
Eriksson - 34 GP, 6G, 8A, 14P
Even just "cherry picking" their recent playoff performances the edge is to Hudler.
Hudler - 11 GP, 4G, 4A, 8P
Eriksson - 12 GP, 2G, 3A, 5P
Yeah, no question really. Eriksson gets to live off his reputation of play from 4 years ago on a different team instead of being judged on the past number of years, the same number of years, as Hudler. Hudler has been terribly under rated during his career and continues to be.
