They have bad contracts - franchise players aren't bad contracts. Anze Kopitar is a franchise player, and he has the hardware to back it up. These guys are almost always worth their money.
Only on the internet is it worth losing Anze Kopitar to retain the services of Tyler Toffoli. Who's 23 years old, and has a career high of 49 points.

Toffoli is 8th in goal scoring this season at 21 goals. He will blow last years point total out of the water this year and is +24(#1 in the NHL). He's a great player, I am sure they will find a way to retain him. Agree though, they had to sign him no matter what. It's a good deal.
