I've lived in New Brighton and mahogany for a combined 10 years. I've certainly noticed the smell a lot more then others here. Always seems to be early in the morning...I'd say I notice it once every 2 weeks in the spring/summer/fall. That said, it doesn't last all day and isn't a big issue imo.
Other then that, I generally prefer mahogany a lot more over new Brighton. Nothing to do with the lake really, just a far stronger sense of community and overall care. Not to put new Brighton down by any means.
Overall my family is really happy in the SE but the schooling issues may force us to relocate as I refuse to put a 5 year old on the bus for 60+ minutes a day.
