I think people exaggerate with how they see Oiler fans in terms of how well they think they are going to do next year. Just because 1-2 journalists say Edmonton will be better and then the smaller percentage of people in each fan base say they will be, people make the assumption that all Oiler fans think they will be a playoff team.
I'd say 80% of Oiler fans don't think they will make the playoffs next year. 10% just don't know any better and the other 10% think McDavid will be the savior. Getting a goaltender, a top pairing defenseman, and a top 4 defenseman at minimum have to happen for that talk to start to happen.
