Knock it off will ya? Brodie was drafted three years before Baertschi, Gaudreau was drafted simultaneously with Baertschi, Jooris' draft year would have been 2009, and Ferland was drafted a year before Baertschi. All you're left with are a #6 overall pick who could have gone top 5 easily and a #4 overall pick who could have gone top 2.
You're acting here, like the "plan" for Gaudreau wasn't to play a year in the AHL after his three college years.
Like Ferland didn't bounce around in the minors as a long shot as late as March this year (5 years after being drafted)
Like Brodie didn't break out in year 5 after his draft, in a convenient transition year for the team.
Like Jooris' rookie year in the AHL didn't come after a year in Junior A (or is it two?) Plus three more in NCAA. Or like he was expected to play even a cup of coffee in the NHL this year.

Jankowski is 20. Giordano was just getting signed to a three-way contract when he was 20 - a contract that threatened to cut his meagre AHL paycheck on the off chance they wanted to develop him in the ECHL. Oh, and Gio was 23, not 22 when he played 48 games. And those 48 games weren't enough for the team to even commit a one-way contract, so he spent his 24-year old season developing in Moscow.
