Either one of these players is basically a stop gap for a couple years until the Flames can fill those spots with younger players in the 25 year old group. If Sharp can be had for cheap, fine with me.

All things being equal, you will end up paying either by $$ to make up for acquisition cost.
UFA will more then likely cost more (in dollars or by term) vs a trade.
