If Edmonton or Vancouver were playing and American team in the Stanley Cup, I would cheer for Edmonton or Vancouver by virtue of their being a Canadian team. It's not nor does it have to be the Olympics for me to cheer a Canadian vs. an American team (Unless a buddy was playing for the Yanks) - I am capable of suspending rivalry hatred.
I don't pay much attention to baseball and basketball (zzzzzz) but in the unlikely event I was watching the BJ's play Oakland, I'd probably cheer for the BJ's (even tho' the Athletics have cool uniforms).
