All of the things he says are just lack of confidence in his ability to survive the physical battle I think. A guy like Gaudreau took hits from behind, slashes and a stick to the face that looked like it broke his nose. And he got right back up after every one of them, Sven doesn't have that in him. Gaudreau leans into people and pushes his weight around making his presence felt, that's the difference between an NHL'er and a minor leaguer. Having the confidence to go into the gritty areas thinking about the play and not whether you're going to get hurt or not because in the NHL most of the rink is the gritty area.

Yeah, that's exactly it. Decent-to-good player with the puck on his stick, but he only has the puck on the stick for a small fraction of the ice time he gets. He doesn't battle hard enough like Gaudreau does to get more touches of the puck. The rest of his ice time is spent being ineffective at other parts of the game and always looking like he's a step behind, always chasing the puck but never getting it.
In the regular season he'll probably be more successful producing, but I ultimately wouldn't want him if I'm building a contender because he'll be a non-factor in the playoffs.

I wouldn't take out anyone in our current top 9 for him.
