I think they're calling it incidental contact during the course of the play.
I have no doubt Burrows stiffened up when he knew the contact was coming, which would make it less enjoyable to run into. But when I see someone coming at me, I stiffen up even if they don't see me. I've also collided with someone when I didn't know they were there, but they saw me. It's awful. But that play happens every game when people go to the bench (bumping into one another as one player tries to get off and another tries to get up ice). I take issue with the thought that this was predatory and with intent to hurt.
It's unfortunate. I hope Gaustad is okay. The call on the ice was overboard though.
