Listen, I'm as devoted as others on here when it comes to this team. I would love to see them make it into the playoffs if only for the sheer fact that it shows the naysayers we have what it takes...and to dig it in further to Edmonton. However, I am glad Treliving is being cautious right now. This season has been a delightful surprise.
I know he or any good fan are not going to want to go here...but we have to think about this. If Treliving were to go out and make some bold moves and maybe add a top line forward and maaaaybe a 4/6 D...do we think that is going to be enough to eliminate the likes of Chicago, Anaheim, or LA in seven game series'? I do think the team needs to be given a better chance, but our success is likely going to come from future players and build off of what happened this season.
In the end the silver lining of this season is that the Flames are on the right track. They have expedited what was thought to be a slow rebuild. Give them one..or two more years and they could be a solid playoff contender that, without question, could go toe to toe with the best.
