I don't think people tend to forget why Glencross chose to take a discount. But even if they do, I really don't see how one can possibly spin it as negatively as you do here. You are actually using the fact that he wanted to stay here to trash his character. That he feels he is in an "unfortunate situation" right now also has no relevance to his decision to sign at a discount four years ago.

Glencross's comments are more typical of an NFL or NBA player not NHL player but as you say people have complained about NHL players being boring interviews. In this case though Glencross kind of came out and showed some bitterness and frustration which is fine but ultimately he's probably going to regret the way he left the team.
Oh, I get it. But we as Flames fans are also applying disproportionate weight to his comments and inventing demons that don't exist. I would bet of 23 players in that locker room, 23 want more ice time and probably three quarters feel they can give more if given more. Glencross' comments aren't going to unbalance or upset the team chemistry - certainly no more than actually moving him would.

But this is all why we lie to oursleves when we say we want more open answers from players. What we really want is to maintain the illusion that 23 players in a locker room all think the same way, act the same way and are all happy little soldier bees. We want to remain in ignorance, so much so that when a guy shows the slightest hint of independent thought, people lose their minds.
