I think it becomes something like Richards + a 1st + a prospect (McKeown?) in return for a lesser prospect (Reinhart?) and maybe a lesser pick, depending on who the prospects are.

That balances the risk. LA gets room to chase their D (no guarantee they will land one) at the expense of a contributing roster player.
That's the price of dealing form a position of weakness with a conference rival.
