I for one didn't mind the hospital storyline. However, one thing I do have an issue with is that, as others have mentioned, they don't develop these people enough and allow the viewer to invest anything into the characters or their situation.

I would have loved some additional fleshing out of this story, but given the clusterfata that was the politics/backstory of just what the hell was going on in there maybe the writers had pigeonholed themselves. I appreciated the ambiguity regarding motives and good/evil, but it kind of felt more confusing than anything else.

I'm still curious to know more about these people, why they have arranged things the way they have, the hint of slavery angle, the distrust and power...all of it. Moreover, why didn't any of the wards decide to walk out with Rick and the group? Especially after hearing repeatedly how they all would? Did the episode just cut short to focus on the impact of Beth's death?

In regards to Beth's death: Wow, total jaw dropper. Didn't see it coming at all. Norman Reedus really nailed that whole sequence.
