The studies on this topic are still in their infancy, but the data so far suggests that it doesn't matter one way or the other. Fights do tend to produce a small increase in offensive zone time for one team, but
which team that is appears to be completely random.
In other words, it matters not a lick if your heavyweight "wins" or "loses" a fight. And let's be honest, most of these events end with both players falling to the ice, resulting in no real clear "decision."
