Also what crappy neighbourhood to you live in that you need to lock your car doors to stop your car from getting stolen.

In my area I lock my car doors to stop prowlings, to be honest I mostly ever hear of people in the downtown and surrounding area say they literally don't lock their doors because they know they're likely going to get a smashed window if they do.
Everyone keeps saying this is a common thing to do, but it's always you downtown people. Does anyone in the suburbs leave their doors unlocked, because smashed windows is common?
Forest Lawn maybe, but I personally don't know any suburbanites that don't lock their doors.
That was kind of a random shot to throw back at OutoftheCube, basically saying his neighbourhood must be so bad that thieves skip stealing things from vehicles and go right to stealing the vehicle itself. Especially considering OutoftheCube likely has never had a car stolen or he probably wouldn't have made that post, lol.
I don't have the stats but I'm pretty sure the beltline and other communities near downtown tend to have the highest vehicle theft numbers as well as break-ins.
"Our area is nice, thieves will only smash your windows or even politely steal your loose change if you extend them the courtesy of leaving the door open. They respect us too much to outright steal the vehicles, however. It's a downtown/latte-sipping mutual respect that you idiot yop-gobblers wouldn't understand."
