I think the coverage of Nathan Cirillo's murder by the CBC, compared with the travesty that is American media displays the value of the CBC. The country needs a public broadcaster whose content isn't directly influenced by private interests and sponsors, or controlled and manipulated my a single person's extremist ideology (i.e. someone like Rupert Murdoch).

I agree I spent too much time weighing in on the Ghomeshi affair. I just question why a Government needs to run a TV station at all? Why can't we model CBC after American station PBS, where they seek donations and pledge drives, in order to raise money for programming?
