Another factor that I don't think has been mentioned is that games run a lot faster than they used to. Unless a game goes into OT, it's very rare for most games to go beyond the 2:30 mark. When I was a kid, I remember games routinely pushing 3 hours, and often running over the 3 hour mark.
Really? You'd think it would be the opposite considering advertisment breaks and what not. What changed? Less penalties and stoppages?
