So I've finally had some time to tinker with the GTX 980 (had to wait til Tuesday evening to get it).
At stock speeds, it turns out it's around ~2% slower than 2x6804GB SLI (OCd). After some tweaking, I was able to jack up the output around 14%-15% over stock on air cooling, which makes it ~11-13% faster than 2x6804GB SLI (OCd).
Kind of a lateral move on the whole, but still welcome with the glut of non-SLI enabled games that have come out recently. Will be interesting to see how it does in SLI for me, but I'll wait a little while on it.
