It's definitely picked up from the first few episodes. There's just something off though. With del Toro behind it you would expect top notch writing and acting but it's actually the exact opposite where the acting and writing is so bad it feels like a low budget CBC series. This is a really bad series and yet I keep watching it because vampires are cool and I want to see the vampire master plan and what this new twist brings. I chalk this series up as a "It's so bad it's good" show.
