Monahan - a 6'2 centre who has leadership qualities and character. A less physical but more skilled Rod Brind'Amour. Not flashy, but efficient, with good hands and excellent hockey sense. Logan Couture would be a similar player who's active.

Bennett - Gilmour, obviously, though slightly taller & faster. Among active players, there's some TJ Oshie & Mike Richards in him.

Jankowski - has been compared to Spezza in terms of style, which seems to fit. Posting Travis Zajac-like numbers might be more realistic (if he evens makes the NHL). It's tempting to draw a likeness between him & Nieuwendyk, but let's not forget Nieuwy's unbelievable faceoff & deflection talents.

Gaudreau - Steve Sullivan comes to mind, although I remember Sullivan having an edge to him that Gaudreau might not have. For current players, perhaps Daniel Briere. Paul Kariya doesn't work for me, because he was a north-south player with blistering speed and a pounding wrist shot. Gaudreau is more sneaky and quick, right?

Klimchuk - A speedy sniper with two-way acumen like Alex Steen or Patrick Sharp (I think I got that from Dobberhockey), albeit smaller. He could turn out to be reminiscent of Martin Gelinas or Steve Larmer.

Poirier - Taylor Hall minus the stench of Edmonton? Rambunctious, almost reckless, skilled, very fast, determined. For another similar Oiler, see Glenn Anderson. Tony Amonte would be a bit of a more palatable comparable.

Baertschi - To me, the "Mini-Hossa" label only has limited applicability, since Hossa uses his size to bull his way through traffic, and that isn't Sven's style. David Perron seems more fitting; but, again, the Oiler stink. I'm having a hard time finding current wingers who are sublimely skilled, smallish, selectively aggressive, equally adept at scoring or making plays, and need to work on their game outside the offensive zone. Reminds me of a young Mark Recchi (unless memory fails me).

Eric Roy - Al Iafrate? Just came up with that out of the blue. Eric probably doesn't chain smoke or have a male pattern baldness gene, though. Oh yeah, I think someone's said Sheldon Souray, but faster. Let's hope he's not an Andy Delmore (big shot and pretty much nothing else).
