Blake Wheeler is another name I've mentioned previously.
I've also been saying for the past couple years that based on development path I'm hoping Jankowski's 3rd year (this year) will be a bigger one.
As for how much time we should give Jankowski? No idea. I've been a strong proponent of being patient with players and not dumping them if they aren't on the fast path or on the path we initially thought. My thoughts on this were stated several times when talking about Backlund the past couple years. Give the player time to grow and see what you've got. Like Backlund, I hope the Flames management and fans have the ability to adapt if the player isn't what they thought he would be at first. Jankowski is developing a strong two-way game in College, if he doesn't make it as a scorer he could have a place in the NHL as a strong two-way 3rd line guy, similar to the way Backlund changed.
Colborne was given up on, but the Hartley was smart enough to see his future wasn't at center, but down the wing.

Backlund played 23 games for the Flames in his third year after his draft. There was zero reason to give up on Backlund.
