He isn't.
But.... The opportunity cost of getting him is zero and that is more important then the cost in dollars.
We get a 6th defensemen who is a heavy player, we still have the ability to sign anyone who wants to play for us.
I suppose the opportunity cost of this deal really is a roster spot and a contract slot but essentially zero.
