No offense to fans of women's soccer, but this doesn't seem like much of a major get. I'd imagine if Calgary was interested in hosting matches, they would have. Toronto isn't either.

Not trying to defend Edmonton but there is no arguing that Commonwealth is a better soccer venue than McMahon at the moment. And Toronto isn't hosting any games in the Women's World Cup because it's at the same time as the Pan-Am games which they are hosting. The lack of potential hosts speaks more to the current state of the women's game than anything but it's not a small event.
