My literal reaction:
If we legalize prostitution we can put in safeguards to ensure the protection of those who work in the sex industry.

Prostitution is the most exploitative, degrading work on Earth because it's illegal. If we can provide safety to those who work as prostitutes it will help curb the fact that it's currently exploitative and degrading.

We already have women working in the sex industry, but our government has said that you can't have sex if there is direct skin on skin contact with the penis and/or vagina and/or anus for money unless it's filmed.
The fact there it is illegal for direct skin on skin contact with the penis and/or vagina and/or anus for money unless it's filmed, but all other aspects of sex work are legal (unless you are an agent for someone who has direct skin on skin contact with the penis and/or vagina and/or anus for money unless it's filmed) and that fathers are perfectly fine with their daughters working in sex work unless there is direct skin on skin contact with the penis and/or vagina and/or anus for money unless it's filmed is ludicrous.
Why don't we legalize working in the sex industry, give those who work in the industry the ability to work in a safe environment, give them the ability to empower themselves and protect themselves within the law (which currently doesn't exist) that way they can be empowered to follow avenues to change their profession?
