It sounds that all other suitors offered a third and when Burke said no they moved on. LA was probably the closest as Duhatschek said recently that they would have turned to Cammy if they couldn't get Gaborik.
Just figures we get the shaft on the first deadline when GMs return to their senses. Would have been nice to have an extra third which we could have used to move up or trade for a player but what you gonna do.

I think Anaheim thought they can get Vanek or Moulson so they traded Penner to make room for one of the two. They were not the only team that made a mistake thinking they can get Vanek or Moulson. Cammy was just an afterthought and teams just ran out of time and panicked. I bet if both Vanek and Moulson got traded early, Cammy would have gone somewhere and Burke would have gotten what he was looking for. Oh well....
