I know it's been rehashed lots but I'm still astounded that an Anaheim or Columbus didn't step up. Anaheim dumped Penner for a fourth and didn't replace him. Surely they could have dealt their second to add a proven playoff performer. And Columbus could have sent us the second they got from LA after fleecing LA in the Gaborik deal. It sounds that all other suitors offered a third and when Burke said no they moved on. LA was probably the closest as Duhatschek said recently that they would have turned to Cammy if they couldn't get Gaborik.
Just figures we get the shaft on the first deadline when GMs return to their senses. Would have been nice to have an extra third which we could have used to move up or trade for a player but what you gonna do.
