Fun fact: At one point (1300s?), the Dutch were Britain's main enemy. Brits called them frogs since they were seen as swamp/marsh-dwellers. Makes sense. Once France became the main British rival, they just transferred the name over to them instead of thinking of a new one.
Probably also because they eat frogs, which actually taste a bit like chicken wings - give them a shot if you ever see them on a menu.
