This is something that doesn't really tend to happen. Goons (even decent ones hockey-wise like McGrattan, would be a drag on a skilled combo like Sven-Monahan or Johnny-Monahan. At the beginning of the season, we saw Baertschi with Monahan and Hudler/Stempniak. Sven's 'demise' was his lack of commitment to a consistent, 200-foot game, not a lack of goon.
That said, I agree that splitting our small skilled wingers might help in board battles.

And they would be given a chance. I'm just not a fan of leaving a space open for Granlund, Reinhart or whoever. Those spots should be earned over players of Galiardi's caliber. Plus TJ is a known quantity who we could get for cheap and short term. Not gonna say I want it to happen (or that it should happen), but it wouldn't surprise or upset me.

Haha this was my thought exactly. I mentioned that his only 'slapshot' goal was the slap-chop top corner. Kind of strange, and I'm not sure why exactly.
