Not saying it will happen to Colborne, but it's pretty common for players his age to have their numbers double. Partly due to increased playing ability and partly due to increased opportunities.
A player aged 24 going from 25ish points to 50ish points is totally normal. In fact, if it doesn't happen it could be the beginning of the end for Colborne's NHL career.
