This is what these things are about. I don't view comic book movies as having to be film versions of the comics. They are different interpretations by different artists no different than when they have a new artist/writer take on a character in the comics. Without these different interpretations we wouldn't see growth of characters like Catwoman, Joker, etc... who have seen vast departures from their original concepts in many different mediums. I'm totally open to whatever a new director/writer wants to do with characters. It's their work, if it sucks it sucks, but nothing is pre-determined, at least for me.
Thing is you need to leave it to the comic book writers to do the re-imaginings, otherwise you just get a mess (Halle Berry Catwoman, Spiderman 3, Wolverine Origins, etc)
