The wheels of civil rights were well in motion before boomers came along, neither Rosa Parks or MLK were baby boomers. The hippies even found a way to spin civil rights into a self-indulgent, drug fueled orgy. All the boomers had to do was not drop the ball (which they sort of did, considering their `war on drugs`is basically the `war on black people`)
- Baby Boomers were the first group to really ring the bell on Environmental issues. This isnt something X&Y just thought up this century.
They really didn`t do much other than notice. Investment in alternative energy has been minimal and sluggish. Personal energy consumption has steadily increased.
and lastly...we look and smell a hell of a lot better.
as to the economy...well lets see if you guys do a better job.
It would have been nice to do this while having access to cheap education, cheap housing, cheap oil and not be burdened with your debt. I suppose we`ll have to try a route other than gambling away the future to fuel our endless lust for money. |
I`m not saying the boomers were wholly bad, but you can`t make a few good points and call them wholly good either. *warning extreme hyperbole incoming*: Nazisms contributions to physics, engineering and medical sciences were tremendous, but they were still nazi`s.
