How are your B12 and IRON levels?
Not saying I'm an expert or anything because I'm certainly not, but I used to get canker sores all the time. Once I started taking proper vitamins and iron supplements I stopped getting them.
They are also possibly linked to sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and most toothpastes have that in them. I found crest toothpaste was particularly bad for me for canker sore flare ups. Maybe try changing your toothpaste and taking some vitamins, that might give you some relief.
But for the ones you do get, try gargling a salt and aspirin solution to help heal them faster. Boil cup of water and dissolve 2 aspirin and a crap load of salt in it. Once it's cooled down, gargle with it for as many times as you can throughout the day. If this works for you like it does for me, it should cut your suffering down to a day or 2 instead of 5 or 6.
