18 months later a few of them are contributing in the NHL. That's where the current pessimism comes from. Doesn't mean that Jankowski isn't a future player, but as a fan of a rebuilding team, it's painful to watch the "consensus" options do better. Not just one player but several of the others they could have taken.
Really, it's an inevitable discussion when you pick a long project with your first pick.
