Not a fan of this. Not a fan of Burke in general. In my mind he's one of the most overrated managers of the last 15 years.
The biggest problem is the signalling that the ownership is already frustrated with the lack of progress. Rebuilds need to hit rock bottom and that was supposed to be this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of "acceleration" moves like the Kessel move. And like the Kessel move, they will accelerate the rebuild but cut off the top end of where it can get to.
To me, this stinks of status quo "make the playoffs and who knows what happens" mediocrity. This move is way more about the direction of the team than it is about whether or not Jay should be fired.
Ugh. Just not happy about this.
