As someone who dropped 40 lbs about 5 years ago (down to a healthy 180), I ate complete #### for 3 months (as per usual), but far less of it than I did prior. I kept myself below 1800 calories (usually between 1500-1800), and exercised 45m-60m daily for 90 days.
Personally, I feel it's a lot more important to learn how to say no to yourself and eat less calories per day overall than it is to eat kale and sprouts. It makes it far easier as well.
