With that said, what she said really bothers me. I used to hear that phrase (Go back to where you came from) said to me all the time and I thought we had gotten past that. This brings back a lot of bad memories and it's sad to see that it hasn't gone away completely.

It reminded me of the time when I was coming back from the Stampede on the train and some old lady and her husband kept trying to budge through everyone after I had waited like 3 trains to get to the front of a line. I asked her to go back to the back of the crowd as they had just got there and pushed and shoved their way to the front.
In a British accent she's like "go back to your country", I was like "this is my country bitch, I was born and raised here".
Her husband looked embarrassed but probably because they usually keep their racism between themselves.
