It's nowhere near comparable unless you are talking Toronto but even Toronto is colder in the winter than almost every US major city. Never been to Chicago huh? Detroit? Buffalo? Cleveland? Should I keep going? Having lived in Michigan I can tell you that the winters are just as bad, if not worse, than they are in Calgary.
