Yes it could mean 100 different things, and also more than just one thing.
However, if Iginla were to sign with the Nucks, one of the things it would mean is in deed that he doesn't at all care about the Flames fans or the organization that supported him for 17 years, or at least that he values all the other reasons he'd have for signing there so much more. He won't be signing with the Nucks ignorant to how that will make his fans in Calgary and the organization feel.
I have no problem with him talking with the Nucks, and I'll wait to see if he signs before I even think about it again, means nothing until he decides. But it would be a slap in the face to this cities hockey fans and the org if he did. He's not just "some player, he's the most iconic Flame of all time". There are two jerseys out of 30 the most iconic Flame of all time should never ware, and the Nucks jersey is one of them, especially not the very next year after his trade. Linden would have never played for the Flames, neither would have Gretzkey.
