People get too worked up over public scouting service and Mckenzie's rankings.
I doubt any "scouts" from the public services are paid as well as the actual team scouts who must have greater resources to work with. If they were any good, wouldn't teams be paying big money to get them on their staff?
As for Mckenzie, readily admits that he doesn't see these kids and he relies on team scouts for info. Think about that, if you were a team scout, would you be giving Mckenzie the true goods and reports on the guys you like? If you were Tod Button or Trevor Timmons and Mckenzie came to you asking who your sleeper or favourite was, would you straight out tell hi or maybe give some false info?
As for McGuire and Ferraro, neither guy gets out to see any junior games because their television schedules are too busy. They know no more about these prospects than fans do.
At the end of the day, if the rumour s true that Poirier was on Anaheim and Montreal's radar, that's good enough for me cause both those teams have been drafting very well in recent years.
