The contract is an albatross. Luongo is still a pretty good goaltender, heck he may still be (god forbid) our number one going into Sochi with the way things are going with Canadian tenders right now.

However, in the NHL, especially with the cap going back down, that contract just doesn't make any sense. If the Canucks want to trade Luongo they have to realize they are going to have to eat some of the contract. I can't believe they haven't figured it out already to tell you the truth.

The question becomes, when is the value of said trade worth more than the difference between covering some of the contract, or just buying it out and letting him go without getting value.
