Good for you for volunteering. However, it doesn't make you any less of a pompous ass.
The fact that people are offering to help clean the dome speaks to the fact that the Flames and the Stampede are integral parts of our community. There is going to be an army of volunteers helping with cleanup efforts, and yes, the Dome and Stampede grounds are part of the city and deserve such assistance just as much as any other area of the city. It's called civic pride, and it is not a misplaced priority.
The loss of historic memorabilia is sad. And it is just as sad if it is 30 years of hockey history or 30 years of grandma's family photos. It is all history that is lost.
