I'm not sure how else they were supposed to negotiate with the NHLPA, I don't recall Fehr being incredibly flexible. The same goes for the IOC, an agency that wants to reap rewards without giving up anything in return. I'm not sure you can fairly label Glendale as brinkmanship when there have been multiple near deals, or at least attempts at deals, over the last few years with the NHL remaining in the market despite them falling through.
