There is nothing stopping Iginla from changing his game and continuing to be an effective player for another few years, nothing except his mental game and a refusal to adopt a defensive mindset.
Sure, he's 'slow', but he's a heck of a lot slower when he's gliding vs. when he's pumping his legs. He only pumps his legs going one direction though, up ice for a potential 2-1 or breakaway.
If he put as much effort into coming back into his own zone as he did flying from it, he'd be a much more effective player.
He doesn't want to do that though, he wants his points.
