I think there's some fundamental difference between the two though. As FDW said, Monahan has been projected as a top 10 pick in this draft for the last two years.. Glennie had a massive draft year (which isn't a knock on him).

I havent' seen much of Monahan but just reading scouting reports you constantly see Hockey IQ and Intangibles thrown around. I remember Glennie in Brandon and he was a speed demon that used that to generate a bunch of his offence. Those kind of players making the jump can always be risky as you don't know if that physical gift will be enough to succeed at the next level. Glennie also had a top 5 pick in Schenn on that roster too.

Monahan could bust but I guess I just don't see the Glennie or McNeil (McNeil was a kid that was physically mature and used that to dominate at the junior level) comparisons. I don't care if a kid is Canadian, American or European.. but i do find it amusing how Canadian kids that have the 'two-way' tag attached to their play have almost become devalued compared to some of the flashier Europeans we've seen over the years.
