The rivalry was serious but mixed with a touch of friendship. After all, the team is from Alberta. Over the last few years as the Flames continued their decline I have secondarily cheered for the exciting young Oiler players. I am sure that if they make the playoffs I will attach my hopes to their success. Additionally, as much as I want a high draft pick I have been unable to cheer for a Flames loss. If we win tonight I will be pleased for the young Flames. If we lose I will keep my fingers crossed for MacKinnon.

The bolded part shows me that you obviously got Kevin Lowe's memo. You know the one. The one that says any sentence referring to the Oilers must contain one or both of the adjectives "exciting" or "young". Makes me puke everytime I hear it. Why is it that even when there are younger teams than the Oilers you never hear them being fawned over by the media like the Oilers are?
